The Ancient Classical Texts of East Asian Medicine state:
First select a quiet environment. Close all the doors and windows.
Gain the trust of the patient so that the patient can completely convey everything
that is pertinent to the condition. Be thorough and differentiate the truth.
Observe the patient's spirit.
This is but one of many profound statements found in the classical texts of East Asian Medicine. In my clinical practice, I treat according to these wisdom texts, searching for the deeper connections to your concern, the point at which you fell out of balance with the world. Holding space and honoring your story is an important piece of your healing process.
My style of acupuncture is gentle, reliant upon presence, and based on principles of Japanese, Classical Chinese, and Esoteric acupuncture. I will be spending time with you before your treatment, getting to know you, asking questions, using the teachings of this ancient medicine, and listening to determine the root cause of your concerns. More advanced sessions will include focused bodywork (John Barnes MFR, craniosacral therapy, AMMA Therapy® ), or Rice Grain/Gold Moxa, cupping, and/or gua sha.
Classical acupuncture seeks to treat the root and not the branch (the problem that likely inspired you to visit this website). That root might be found entirely somewhere else in your body, perhaps an origin that began with an injury you sustained decades ago. That pain may reflect the movement of the seasons and how the weather affects your symptoms. It may have to do with your genetics or lifestyle. Many times the source of pain is held in your spirit or your psyche. There are many reasons for dis-ease. But the most meaningful treatment will always address the source -- the state of your spirit. It is for this reason that I don't just treat your problem, but the reason you are having that problem. My practice is not your quick fix stop. But I promise to get to the center of your problem to restore you to true balance and health.
While I treat pain and injury, my areas of speciality include women's care (hormone regulation, fertility, IVF, pregnancy, labor support and postpartum support), anxiety and depression, autoimmune conditions, and complications caused by scar tissue. I am also certified in the Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture procedure for the face, neck, and abdomen and I hold over 20 years of advanced bodywork training in AMMA Therapy® and the John Barnes Approach to Myofascial Release, and Craniosacral Therapy.
